A 2005 Chrysler 300C that allegedly belonged to the Commander In Chief (back when he was an Illinois senator) has hit eBay Motors .

Nissan creates first self-healing iPhone case

While it’s been applied to the company’s cars for four years now , it’s first non-automotive application is here: an iPhone case. Called the Nissan Scratch Shield iPhone case, it appears aimed at the doubly-retentive types who not only don’t like their phone getting scratched, but also don’t even like their cases to show any wear

Report: Honda wins Acura RL collision warning system class action lawsuit appeal

Filed under: Sedan , Etc. , Government/Legal , Safety , Acura , Luxury Honda can thank Wal-Mart for the automaker’s recent victory in a class-action lawsuit over Acura RL models equipped with the company’s Collision Mitigation Braking System. The system was designed to warn drivers of a potential crash, tighten the vehicle’s seat belts and automatically apply the brakes. However, lawyers for approximately 2,000 plaintiffs sued the Japanese automaker, arguing that the system may warn the driver too slowly, and it may not work at all – the lawsuit also complained the system may shut off altogether in foul weather

Report: NHTSA closes probes into Honda Accord Hybrid, Kia Sorento

NHTSA began looking into Accord Hybrid models after a fatal traffic accident was initially attributed to unintended acceleration. The agency found no evidence of a mechanical or safety issue in the vehicles.

Official: Ford recalling 244k Escape models, 200,000+ Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans

Filed under: Minivan/Van , Recalls , Safety , Crossover , Ford Ford is recalling nearly half a million vehicles in two separate actions announced today by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration . Just over 244,000 Ford Escape crossovers from model year 2001 and 2002 are being recalled for potentially leaky brake master cylinder reservoir caps, while nearly 206,000 2004 and 2005 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans may have defective torque converter output shafts. NHTSA says that in the case of the Escape, leaking brake fluid could cause corrosion on an electrical connector in the antilock brake system wiring harness, leading to “melting, smoke or a fire.” Ford will begin notifying owners the week of Jan. 23, although a parts delay is expected to postpone repairs
