2010-2011 Saab 9-3 faces recall over possible fuel pump defect

The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration says that the vehicles made have been built with pumps that did not meet the correct specifications, and as a result, the pumps may seize, causing the engine to stall. NHTSA believes that the defect could potentially increase the risk of an accident. As far as we know, no incidents have been reported as a result of the issue

Report: Saab looking to sell cars in China, Russia, Brazil and Mexico

According to Bloomberg , it is negotiating distribution deals in China, Russia, India and Mexico that will give it presences in some locales it hasn’t served since 2008, when General Motors pulled back on Saab commitments, The deals in the works now are for distribution only. Local production in places like China would allow for a far larger magnitude of sales – 5,000 annual sales vs. 50,000, for instance – but Saab’s first aim to to build the dealer network by which it can market and sell its cars effectively

Yet that’s exactly what Saab has been doing in the months since it was sold by General Motors . Apparently, that’s all about to change in a really big way as Saab prepares to start selling its all-new 9-5 . Because the 9-5 is at the heart of the company’s efforts to reclaim the sales volume it has lost in the last several years, it makes sense that Saab would wait until the new car was ready for customers

Thankfully, that worry has been wiped away, and we’ve now had our chance to experience the 9-5 firsthand in Gothenburg, Sweden. In this video, available after the jump , Saab’s performance integration manager of vehicle dynamics, Stefan Rundquist, pilots the new sedan around a Swedish handling track, pointing out the different features that make the 9-5 an enjoyable steer (complete with moose test footage!).
