Ford: Yes, Camaro will outsell Mustang this year

Besides giving the Bowtie Boys something to crow about, it also makes us genuinely intrigued to watch how 2011 unfolds, considering that Chevy plans to unleash its convertible and Z28 Camaro editions. Somewhat surprisingly, Ford doesn’t seem too bothered.

So don’t worry, pony car fans, there will be plenty of Mustangs in Las Vegas come next week

SEMA Preview: Cervini’s brings some Eleanor flavor to the Ford Mustang GT

If you own a 2010 Mustang, first of all, sorry about the 2011, but secondly, there’s a way to try and capture some of that Eleanor styling for your modern Ford pony car. Cervini’s has released images of its upcoming kit for new ‘Stangs, and the urethane kit includes a hood, front bumper, side skirts, side scoops, a rear valence, a ducktail spoiler, upper and lower billet grilles, a set of fog lights and a side-exiting exhaust system.

IIHS releases latest round of safety scores for Infiniti M, Lexus HS and Toyota 4Runner

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has released a bevy of scores for the Infiniti M , Lexus HS 250h and Toyota 4Runner and it was nothing but “Good” all around. The Infiniti and Toyota were tested for frontal offset and side impacts, with their “Good” score maintaining the scores of their predecessors. The Lexus scored a first-time Good” in the frontal offset test.

Report: 2014 Mustang could be based on global platform with IRS

You’ve surely got a few more years to save your money, but the boys from Motor Trend are reporting that fully-independent salvation will finally show up for the Mustang’s 50th Anniversary Party in 2014. MT projects that there are a few ways the Blue Oval could go with its next-gen pony car in order to satisfy the demand for IRS, the most likely of which appears to be a significantly revised version of the current Mustang platform with the recently unveiled 5.0-liter V8 engine as the centerpiece.

So, by now you’ve heard that the new powerplant puts out 412 ponies, or 83 horsepower-per-liter. Now, AW wants you to know it also offers up 390 pound-feet of torque and that peak power comes at a screaming 6,500 RPM. The new powertrain combination will also return 25 miles per gallon, says AW
