Report: Some Chevy dealers rejecting further Volt allocations

First, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened a probe into the vehicle over the possibility of post-crash fires , and now some of its dealers are refusing to take their allocations of the extended-range plug-in hybrid. For example, according to Automotive News , GM set aside 104 Volt models for 14 dealerships across the greater New York City market

Report: NHTSA says White House didn’t factor in Chevy Volt fire disclosure

Filed under: Hybrid , Sedan , Government/Legal , Safety , Chevrolet , Electric The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has confirmed the Obama administration didn’t ask the government agency to delay announcing potential safety issues with the Chevrolet Volt . According to The Detroit News , Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood was briefed about Volt fires that occurred after two crash tests in September, three months after the first extended-range hybrid began smoldering. According to the report, the office of the president was then informed of the fires shortly thereafter, as well as being notified of NHTSA’s intent to investigate whether the results of the tests could be replicated.

Report: Chevy Cruze production in Lordstown to restart today

Filed under: Budget , Sedan , Plants/Manufacturing , Chevrolet , GM The Detroit News reports that General Motors will resume full production of the Chevrolet Cruze today, after a supplier issue caused a production snarl at its Lordstown, Ohio facility earlier this week . On Tuesday, the Lordstown facility’s third shift was put on hold, and both the first and second shifts were shortened. Full production will resume when third shift workers arrive tonight, and GM states that employees scheduled to work the first and second shifts on Friday should report at their regularly scheduled times.
