Report: Chrysler planning Dodge Avenger successor after all?

According to USA Today , Chrysler is set to introduce new midsized sedans to replace both the Chrysler 200 and the much-maligned Dodge Avenger. The vehicles will be built on a version of the same platform that underpins the 2013 Dodge Dart .

Report: Streamlined Chrysler minivan lineup to get different branding in U.S. and Canada

Filed under: Minivan/Van , Chrysler , Dodge , Canada The Detroit News reports that while Chrysler is only expected to offer one minivan going forward, the vehicle will carry two different names depending on where it’s sold. The Dodge Grand Caravan is expected to carry on in Canada while American buyers are likely to continue to be able to buy the Chrysler Town and Country . Reid Brigland, the head of the Dodge brand, said that the Town and Country resonates better with American buyers.

Of course, not everyone can manage a two-door with limited space inside for passengers and cargo, which is why Chrysler has placed the massive lump under the hood of the latest Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 as well. Inside Line cites “a source close to the project” as saying the Grand Cherokee’s platform sibling, the Dodge Durango , may also be in line for a 470-hp power infusion for 2013.

It only makes sense, since the Jeep and the Dodge share major assemblies between them and both offer the same V6 and V8 engines (besides the range-topping SRT8, for now…) and since Dodge has historically been Chrysler’s performance division

As the spiritual successor to the profitable and successful Dodge Neon, this boxy hatch had big expectations to meet when it touched down way back in 2006.
