Paris 2010: 2011 Mercedes-Benz CL63 AMG mixes Wall Street and Miami Vice

The standard version gets 544 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. Opt for the AMG Performance Package and you boost that to 571 hp and 664 lb-ft. All that power doesn’t come with a bigger fuel price, either: at 22 combined miles per gallon with the help of stop/start and the AMG Speedshift MCT seven-speed sport transmission, the new car posts a 25 percent increase in fuel economy over the 6.2-liter beast

Mercedes-Benz unveils 2011 S63 AMG with twin-turbo 5.5L V8 [w/video]

Filed under: Sedan , Performance , Mercedes-Benz , Luxury 2011 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG – Click above for high-res image gallery Engine downsizing has now come to the almost top-of-the-line Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG with the adoption of AMG’s new twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8. The new direct-injected V8 bumps output up from a mere 518 horsepower to 571 horsepower along with generating 663 pound-feet of torque between 2,250 and 3,750 rpm. That’s sufficient to propel this behemoth to 62 mph in just 4.5 seconds in normal trim or 4.4 seconds if you opt for the AMG sports package. The 2011 S63 also swaps out its previous torque converter automatic transmission for the multi-clutch unit from the SL63, a move which should lend it a more sporting feel.

Brawnier 2011 Mercedes-Benz R-Class leaked ahead of New York debut

Filed under: New York Auto Show , Crossover , Mercedes-Benz , Luxury 2011 Mercedes-Benz R-Class – Click above for high-res image gallery The R-Class has had a rough life. Not only did it suffer from odd, disproportionate styling, but Mercedes-Benz never really marketed the vehicle the way that it should have, choosing to position it as a “sports tourer,” rather than the obvious upscale family hauler that it is. Dismal sales ensued.

Spy Shots: Updated Mercedes-Benz C-Class wagon spotted touring about

Filed under: Spy Photos , Wagon , Mercedes-Benz , Luxury Mercedes-Benz C-Class wagon spy shots – Click above for high-res image gallery Last week, the forthcoming revised Mercedes C-Class sedan was caught on a field trip , and this week it’s the C-Class wagon. Naturally, the same changes spotted in that last round of photos – new hood, headlights and bumpers, a more upright grille, LED taillamps, and altered rear fascia – have taken the small step over to this car as well. The spy shooters at CarPix also suggest that noticeable interior changes might be on the way, since “test drivers are always very keen on covering the dash up.” We expect a few modest material changes and maybe some COMAND updates, but not a full-on interior redo. Either way, you can check out high-res exterior shots in the gallery of photos below.

Filed under: Convertible , Mercedes-Benz , First Drive , Luxury 2011 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet – Click above for high-res image gallery Convertibles have long been something of an acquired taste. Devotees steadfastly defend the unique sensation of elemental motoring that can only come when plugged in to one’s surrounding breezes, noises and smells. Conversely, detractors have traditionally lambasted droptops for their lackluster foul weather performance, added weight, vulnerability, and creaky, ill-handling platforms.
