Report: Ford scraps "Drive One" ad slogan in favor of "Go Further"

Taking advantage of group buying power, shared developments costs and synergies with products from other divisions, for instance. And these are things that, since splitting off from Ford a couple of years ago, Volvo does not have at its disposal any longer. Filed under: Technology , BMW , Infotainment Touchscreens are becoming common and touch pads – like those in the Audi A7 , A8 and next A3 – are gaining traction, but the next input revolution might not be gesture controls , it’s likely to be “smart fabrics” and BMW is already toying with the technology. Researchers at the Polytechnic School of Montreal, Canada have developed a new flexible, polymer-based fiber that can be woven into existing fabrics. Essentially, it’s a capacitive pad that can register touches and swipes when alternating current is plumbed through the fibers.

Report: Saab Cars North American undergoing bankruptcy liquidation

Sure, there are still talks of one foreign entity or another picking up where GM and Swedish Automobile (Swan)/ Spyker left off, but even if they do, they’ll have a heck of a lot of work on their hands. And that includes rebuilding its presence in North America.

But whether it makes the trek or not, there’s little question that the new premium hatchback will be a vital product for Daimler. While the current A-Class hasn’t been a smashing success, the segment has grown into an important one for luxury automakers like Audi with its A3 and BMW with its 1 Series . The new model, however, aims to take a slice of that particular pie once it debuts as anticipated in production form at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show in a couple of months from now
