Official: 2012 Ducati 1199 Panigale range bows at EICMA

Filed under: Performance , Europe , Motorcycle Ducati holds a special place in the superbike world of melt-your-retinas speed, and the introduction of the company’s new 1199 Panigale ensures that the Italian manufacturer won’t be giving up that spot any time soon. In addition to shedding 22 pounds from the curb weight of the 1198, the new Panigale cranks out 20 more horsepower than the old machine, as well. The Superquadro twin-cylinder engine generates 195 horsepower, which should be enough to propel the 361-pound machine to well past the brink of sanity.

Official: CPP-Zagato partnership announcement stops short of full acquisition

Filed under: Plants/Manufacturing , Design/Style Just a few weeks ago, we brought you a report that suggested that CPP had acquired Zagato . The British coachbuilder owned by Vladimir Antonov has gone on a spending spree of late, acquiring Spyker and Land Rover racing specialist Bowler , so the acquisition of the Italian design house would seem to fit nicely into the company’s portfolio. CPP and Zagato have now revealed that their collaboration was already underway as far back as a full year ago with the establishment of a joint venture called CPP Milan. The enterprise was responsible for the design and realization of the Aston Martin V12 Zagato (pictured above), and the tie-up gives the two outfits the kind of concept-to-production capacity that several rival design houses have tried (but largely failed) to establish under one roof.

Filed under: Concept Cars , Convertible , Performance Spada Codatronca Monza – Click above for high-res image gallery The father-son design team of Ercole and Paolo Spada made a real splash a few years back when they unveiled the Codatronca . Inspired by the Kamm-tailed Alfas Ercole designed back in the day for Zagato , the Codatronca looked something like a cross between a Chevrolet Corvette , a Lamborghini and Darth Vader’s helmet. Radical as the design was, however, it wasn’t quite extreme enough for Aznom . So the Italian coachbuilder and aftermarket firm commissioned Spada to build the car you see here: the Codatronca Monza
