Video: Fiat co-opts Jeep tagline for new Panda campaign

Filed under: Budget , Europe , Marketing/Advertising , Hatchback , Fiat Recognize that tag line? It was used in the first ad for the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee , a 90-second spot devoted to resetting our image of Jeep and, subtly, America itself. Chrysler parent Fiat evidently thinks so much of the tagline that they’ve taken it to Italy for use in the ad campaign for the 2012 Fiat Panda . Italy’s had a tough time of late: just as it was trying to get Berlusconi and his “bunga bunga” in the rearview, its debt crisis went from ‘critical’ to ‘euro-zone threatening,’ austerity measures led to social and labor unrest, and now comes the capsized Costa Concordia and an Italian captain with the unique ability to trip and fall into a lifeboat before his passengers.

Auctions: Barrett-Jackson 2012: $300,000 takes home 2013 Shelby GT500 prototype [w/video]

Filed under: Auctions , Ford This beaten and battered 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 prototype is proof that you can buy just about any type of vehicle at Barrett-Jackson . The car was used as an SVT test car to develop the 2013 Shelby GT500, and was piloted at race tracks like Sebring Raceway and at Ford’s Arizona proving grounds. Even Carroll Shelby himself had a stint in the car to test its merits. From the look of it, the GT500 prototype is still in testing condition

Video: 2012 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor tackles Hell’s Revenge Trail

Filed under: Truck , Videos , Ford , Off-Road We recently went off the beaten path with a Ford F-150 SVT Raptor in Moab, Utah to test the 2012 model’s improved off-road chops. While Editor Paukert’s tale of the experience certainly gets the point across, there’s nothing quite like watching Ford’s monster tackle the rocks and dirt in high-definition video, especially video that was taken by a hovering camera-equipped drone. While the Raptor is best known for its desert-storming, dune-jumping prowess (we ourselves have greatly enjoyed getting all four wheels off the ground ), what’s truly amazing is watching a vehicle this big tackle some of Moab’s toughest obstacles at a snail’s pace. Follow the jump to see for yourself
