BMW has just announced that it has ceased production of both the M6 coupe and convertible. The uniquely styled GT cars primarily found favor here in the U.S., with a total of 3,528 of the hardtops and 3,247 convertibles sold on American soil.

Spy Shots: 2012 BMW M6 ready to tackle the ‘Ring

But with the coupe and convertible performing a slow striptease in Germany, one model has been noticeably absent: the next-generation M6 . Caught testing this morning outside the Nurburgring, BMW’s high-po coupe differs from its staid siblings with upgraded wheels, drilled brake rotors and the standard M-style quad exhausts.
