Report: Visteon CEO Stebbins hints at breakup

Filed under: Etc. , Earnings/Financials As one of the world’s largest suppliers of automotive parts, Visteon is a highly valuable company with hands in many areas of vehicle production. Visteon produces components for automotive interiors, climate control systems, lighting and electronics. The company is run by CEO Donald Stebbins, and the man in charge has hinted that Visteon could move to push its divisions into separate entities.

General Motors retirees suing for lost benefits

Filed under: GM , Earnings/Financials Part of the reason that General Motors survived its recent bout with bankruptcy is that it greatly reduced the amount of benefits it was paying to its retired workers . Now, more than 100 former GM executives are suing because they feel the automaker owes them dough. General Motors has a plan administrator that examines all the claims made by the retirees. It states that all claims were reviewed and rejected in accordance with the requirements that the automaker needed to navigate through serious debt obligations and Chapter 11 bankruptcy

Report: BBS files for bankruptcy… again *UPDATE

Filed under: Aftermarket , Europe , Earnings/Financials German wheel manufacturer BBS has declared bankruptcy, and it’s not the first time. Back in 2007, BBS was plagued with financial difficulties but Punch International stepped in to provide much-needed capital . The news of a second bankruptcy, which was filed on December 30, apparently came as a shock to the hundreds of employees and even corporate partner IG Metall. The latter was getting ready to put a few million bucks into BBS and rival company Ronal was ready to buy BBS’ Herbolzheim factory

Cadillac officially announces sponsorship of PGA Tour

Filed under: Marketing/Advertising , Cadillac General Motors , fresh out of bankruptcy and back on the open market, has announced it will resume sponsorship of the PGA Tour. The automaker’s last sponsorship in the golfing world, which famously paired star golfer Tiger Woods and Buick , ended in 2008 amidst major cutbacks just prior to filing for Chapter 11. This time around, GM will tap its range-topping Cadillac division for hole-in-one sponsorship duties. The arrangement will make Caddy the title sponsor of the World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship and an umbrella sponsor of the World Golf Championships
