Filed under: Detroit Auto Show , Budget , Performance , Hatchback , Hyundai , Design/Style The Hyundai Veloster got off to a solid commercial and critical start in 2011, and while the eccentric hatchback has only been on the market for a few months, it’s already found its fair share of friends, outselling competitors like the Honda CR-Z and Scion tC straight away. We can see why – Veloster offers a unique mix of cut-price mix of funkiness, utility, connectivity and efficiency. However, it’s also fair to say that its direct-injected 1.6-liter Gamma four-cylinder skews far more eco than sport.

Report: Toyota Prius GT300 coming to SuperGT

Toyota will be replacing its Axio racer with a Prius for next year’s SuperGT season. The touring car Prius will reportedly run in the GT300 class against the recently released Subaru BRZ and Honda CR-Z , the latter of which – like the Prius – will use some kind of hybrid drivetrain in the championship.

Exclusive: Honda CEO disappointed by Crosstour sales, vows to make it successful

Filed under: Car Buying , Tokyo Motor Show , Crossover , Honda In a roundtable with reporters at an event related to the Tokyo Motor Show , Tetsuo Iwamura, President and CEO of American Honda , told us that he’s been surprised by the Crosstour crossover’s slow sales: “In the case of the Crosstour, I’m really disappointed because that’s a nice car, [with] very beautiful styling, and it gives very good driving performance as well as packaging. But yet, we went a bit too far.” The five-door CUV has been struggling since it went on sale as a 2010 model. Through November, Honda has sold just 16,679 units this year – down nearly 36 percent from the 25,927 units tallied by this point in 2010.

Official: Honda UK and Mugen launch supercharged CR-Z iCF

Filed under: Aftermarket , Hybrid , Performance , Hatchback , Honda , UK While Honda doesn’t have any plans to bring the carbon fiber-laced CR-Z Mugen RR to production, the company has announced that buyers in the UK will have the chance to pick up a quicker version of the hybrid hatchback. The Honda CR-Z iCF will boast a little over 172 horsepower thanks to some wrenching by Mugen Euro. The base 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine packs a centrifugal supercharger along with an intercooler and a remapped ECU. As a result, the dash to 60 miles per hour takes just 6.1 seconds.

2012 Honda CR-Z iCF Mugen officially announced

The CR-Z iCF Mugen will come with 175 PS (129 kW / 173 hp) and features a 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time of 6.1 seconds.
