BMW’s electric small car range will reportedly see the i5 model launch in 2015. Joining the i3 compact hatch and i8 sports car, the i5 will fill the void between the two models and subsequently complete the range.

Report: Turkish private equity firm jumps into Saab buying fray

Brightwell is is perhaps the unknown Turkish entity mentioned last year as having an interest in bankrupt Saab, along with India’s Mahindra & Mahindra . A board member at Brightwell said the company will spend two weeks evaluating Saab’s assets and then will make a bid, “there’s no question.” Turkey doesn’t have a national car company, but it does have plenty of automotive manufacturing expertise since Ford , Fiat and Renault have factories there. Report: Mercedes planning B-Class plug-in hybrid for U.S.

Filed under: Hybrid , Etc. , Europe , Technology , Hatchback , Mercedes-Benz , Electric Mercedes-Benz has its heart set on boosting its U.S. sales by more than 20 percent, and Automotive News reports that mission may include plans for an extended range hybrid . Joachim Schmidt, head of global sales for Mercedes-Benz, said a special, U.S.-only B-Class plug-in hybrid with a range-extending electric motor may be headed to the States soon.
