Spy Shots: 2011 Ram 1500 Hybrid uncloaked

Filed under: Spy Photos , Hybrid , Truck , Dodge 2011 Ram 1500 Hybrid captured by Rich Truesdell of Automotive Traveler While recently shooting some cloaked Chrysler and Hyundai prototypes, Automotive Traveler ‘s Rich Truesdell came across several completely undisguised Ram 1500 pickups the other day. As Rich tells it: Upon closer examination, I figured out why: They are near-production-ready versions of the rumored 2-Mode Hybrid version. Judging by the complete lack of cloaking, I’d assume they are undergoing final validation, possibly to establish their published tow ratings. Don’t be surprised if the Ram is an early-introduction 2012 model to reach showrooms in the spring

Reader Spy: Are you the next Dodge Charger SRT8?

Filed under: Spy Photos , Sedan , Performance , Dodge 2011/2012 Dodge Charger SRT8 prototype – click above for high-res image gallery It’s no secret that Chrysler is unleashing redesigned versions of the 300 and Dodge Charger sedans this Fall and we’ve seen numerous images of them prowling the streets of suburban Detroit in recent months. Now another of Autoblog’s eagle-eyed readers, Marty M., has dropped us a note to let us know that he had captured what appears to be the new SRT8 version of the Charger. We’re assuming this is the high-output Charger based on the size of the wheels and rear deck appendage, along with the depth of the front air dam. The freshly contoured flanks are visible under the camo, but we can’t quite tell if there is a new piece of glass at the trailing edge of the rear doors.

Chrysler recalling 40,000 vehicles for ignition problem

Filed under: Recalls , Safety , Chrysler , Dodge , Jeep There’s been a lot of talk about unintended acceleration over the past few months, but what about “unintended movement?” This new phrase, coined by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, applies to recent Chrysler products affected by a problem where drivers might be able to remove the key from the ignition before the vehicle is shifted into park, which could cause the vehicle to run away on its own. (We don’t know why anyone would take the key out before putting the vehicle in park, but still, cars need to be idiot-proof these days.) This latest recall affects more than 40,000 2010 model year Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep vehicles, including the 300 , Challenger , Charger , Ram , Commander and outgoing Grand Cherokee , USA Today reports. Owners should be able to have this problem fixed at their local dealership, free of charge.
