First Drive: 2012 Ford Explorer and 2012 Ford Edge Ecoboost Ecoboost comes to two more nameplates, this time in 4-cylinder form. For 2012, Ford is putting its Ecoboost technology to work in its popular Explorer and Edge sport-utilities, in a quest for better gas mileage. Previously available only with V-6 engines (which continue), the Explorer and the Edge are both adding a turbocharged, direct-injected 2.0-liter four-cylinder. Report: 2012 Ford Edge to hit 30 mpg with 2.0-liter EcoBoost

Filed under: Etc. , Crossover , Ford The 2012 Ford Edge is set to be available with four-cylinder EcoBoost power with the addition of a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, and reports are emerging that the vehicle will be able to return some fairly impressive fuel economy numbers. According to Ford Inside News, the Environmental Protection Agency has concluded testing, and the Edge 2.0 EcoBoost has managed to eek out 30 mpg highway. That’s three miles per gallon better than the comparable 3.5-liter V6-equipped 2011 model and two miles per gallon better than the Explorer 2.0-liter EcoBoost, whose 28 mpg highway figure was just made official last week

2011 Ford Edge, Lincoln MKX get first recall

Ford has issued a recall for a whopping 71 2011 Lincoln MKX and 2011 Ford Edge models due to rear latches that are unable to be locked. According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration , the locks weren’t programmed properly from the factory, and as such, the rear gate can’t be locked by any of the buttons inside of the vehicle or even the key fob. NHTSA says that the problem violates the agency’s motor vehicle safety standard number 206 pertaining to locks and door retention components.
