It’s a marketing motto nearly as old as racing itself, but while today’s NASCAR stock cars may have about as much in common with the cars they represent as a Halloween superhero costume from Walmart will actually give your kid superpowers, NASCAR remains the biggest spectator sport in America. So you can imagine that participating automakers would think themselves foolish to pass up the opportunity to make the connection in fans’ eyes to cars they can actually buy at their local dealership.

Report: Rear-wheel drive Falcon gets five-year committment from Ford

Filed under: Detroit Auto Show , Sedan , Plants/Manufacturing , Ford , Australia Fans of the rear-wheel drive Ford Falcon can breath easy, at least until 2016. According to Australia’s CarAdvice.com, Ford has announced that automaker will invest $103 million to sustain both the Falcon and Territory SUV through the next five years. The news came courtesy of Ford Australia president Bo Graziano and Ford Asia Pacific president Joe Hinrichs at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show . Ford is expected to unveil refreshed versions of both the Falcon and the Territory in 2014

Official: Mopar to go full boat with 150 Dodge Dart accessories

Filed under: Aftermarket , Budget , Sedan , Etc. , Dodge Chrysler is serving up an impressive smattering of Mopar accessories for the 2013 Dodge Dart , including a host of performance parts. All told, buyers will be able to chose from a total of 150 accessories that range from an integrated Wi-Fi system to aerodynamic additions. Chrysler says the Dart will feature the industry’s first wireless charging system for phones and other battery-powered gadgets.

Jet-powered motorcycle headed for land speed record

Back in 1999, he set the one-way record for the top speed on a motorcycle at 362 mph, and he’s spent the years since working on a sub-orbital rocket and a gas turbine jet pack. Surprisingly enough, those two projects haven’t been enough to occupy Brown’s time, and he’s now turned his attentions back toward the motorcycle land speed record . Now the mad scientist aims to stroll past 450 mph on a jet-powered bike.
