Official: GM addresses Escalade’s most-stolen status with new security features

Filed under: SUV , Safety , Technology , Cadillac , GM An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, so Cadillac is rolling some new anti-theft technology into it’s flagship Escalade . While the ‘Sclade is pretty long-in-the-tooth these days, it’s still one of the most stolen vehicles extant . The new security features include a new encryption system for the key, key cylinder and ignition system, a beefier steering column lock, an inclination sensor to sound an alarm when the vehicle gets towed, a shock sensor, and a new wheel lock system. And of course, Escalades already come with OnStar , which is capable of remotely locking the ignition and tracking the vehicle if it does go missing.

Confirmed: Updated Lexus LX to debut at Detroit Auto Show

Filed under: Detroit Auto Show , SUV , Lexus , Luxury A spokesperson from Lexus has confirmed that an updated version of the company’s range-topping LX 570 sport utility vehicle will debut at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show next month. The current LX – and its corporate cousin, the Toyota Land Cruiser – have been with us since the 2008 model year, so it’s about time for a nip/tuck. Don’t expect a major overhaul, however. Bill Kwong, Lexus Communications Specialist, tells Autoblog that the changes to the LX will mostly be cosmetic, consisting of slightly updated sheetmetal as well as changes to both the front and rear fascias

Filed under: LA Auto Show , Sedan , Cadillac , GM , Luxury The Cadillac DTS and STS never gained much favor outside of livery slaves and foot-in-the-grave pensioners, and for good reason. Utterly devoid of sex appeal or even the presence of the Escalade or less costly CTS , the Barges of Ft. Lauderdale always came across as something Cadillac had to sell, not something it wanted to.
