Tuned practically to the point of blowing themselves to bits, every pound stripped away so that only the bare necessities are left and sitting on top of a foot-plus of suspension travel, it takes a deft hand to tame these race machines. But the home of L-Finesse not only has nine new or updated cars coming out this year, led by the 2013 GS , it has a new attitude, which will be “uncontained” in a 30-second spot while the Niners play the Patriots the NFL champion is decided. The ad will be supported by a campaign called “TweetDrive Engineered by Lexus,” and those with a Twitter account and a bunch of correct answers will have a chance to win a trip to that Bowl of Superness. Chrysler hiring 1,100 new workers to build diesel Jeep Grand Cherokee

Filed under: Performance , Plants/Manufacturing , Crossover , Chrysler , Dodge , Jeep , Diesel Last April, we received word straight from CEO Sergio Marchionne’s mouth that Fiat’s 3.0L V6 turbo-diesel engine would find its way to America under the hood of a Jeep Grand Cherokee by the end of 2013. That a diesel-powered Grand Cherokee would return to Jeep’s lineup was great news for fans of the last version, but workers in the city of Detroit should be even more excited, as Chrysler has just announced it will add a third shift and hire 1,100 new workers at its Jefferson North Assembly Plant to help build it. Jefferson North currently employs 2,890 people and is responsible for production of the Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango .

Report: California to stop towing cars of unlicensed drivers

Filed under: Government/Legal In California, if an undocumented citizen finds themselves in a sobriety checkpoint, their vehicle will be impounded for up to 30 days. The reason? Illegal aliens aren’t permitted to have driver’s licenses. And if the driver cannot afford fines that crest the $1,000 mark, in many cases the towing company will become the owner of the vehicle, which can then be sold at auction.

Report: State regulators turn up the heat on TrueCar

That’s the question behind recent conflicts between the company and a growing list of foes, which include dealership organizations, automakers and regulators in at least three states. According to a report by Automotive News , TrueCar’s business model is under fire by this old guard, backed by long-standing legislation to protect their franchise interests. AN says government officials in Colorado, Wisconsin and Virginia have all raised issue with TrueCar, and that the company may face legal problems in other states, including California
