Filed under: Sedan , Etc. , Government/Legal , Ford Massachusetts Lieutenant Governor Tim Murray (Dem) didn’t brake or try to steer away from the rock ledge his Ford Crown Victoria was headed for at speeds of nearly 100 miles per hour. That’s according to reports stemming from the aftermath of an early morning accident on November 2, 2011 in which Murray’s state-owned car left the roadway on Interstate 190 in Sterling, MA, and struck a rock ledge at 92 mph before rolling over.

General Motors and Ford are now profitable, and Chrysler appears poised to begin making real money soon. That success has lead to plans to spend billions of dollars on North American plants, but Automotive News reports that our friends to the north aren’t seeing much of the money. Ford, GM and Chrysler are reportedly planning to spend at least $13.3 billion in the U.S.

And while we’re not exactly upset about having to bid farewell to things like the Mitsubishi Endeavor , Mazda Tribute or Chevrolet HHR , there are a few vehicles that we’re truly going to miss. The Mazda RX-8 , for example, has grown to be one of our favorite sports cars since its introduction in 2003. We love its lightweight construction, high-revving rotary engine and surprisingly functional suicide door design.

Filed under: Minivan/Van , Work , Nissan While getting our first in-person look at the 2012 Nissan NV3500 passenger van today, Nissan’s Vice President of Commercial and Fleet Vehicles, Joe Castelli, informed Autoblog that there’s plenty more news to come from the automaker’s nascent commercial vehicle line in the very near future. Obviously, the major news surrounding Nissan’s commercial business was the recent announcement that its NV200 van has been selected to be the next-generation New York City taxi – big shoes to fill now that the Ford Crown Victoria has finally ceased production . To build on the momentum of the NV200 taxi here in the States, Castelli tells us that Nissan plans to offer a retail version to fill out its commercial vehicle line.
