Ford teases Focus electric ahead of CES

Filed under: Hatchback , Ford , Electric It’s been nearly a full year since Ford made it clear that the automaker is planning to roll out an all-electric version of its Focus, and now we have our first glimpse at what to expect from the car. The Blue Oval has dusted off its first teaser of the New Year with a shot of the charging port on the EV Focus . Interestingly enough, Ford has decided to skip the Detroit Auto Show as a venue for the vehicle’s unveil, opting instead for the electrified Focus to take a bow at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, which runs from January 6 to 9.

Ford reveals initial markets for Focus EV

Filed under: Car Buying , Sedan , Technology , Hatchback , Ford , Electric 2012 Ford Focus EV – Click above for high-res image gallery Ford is gearing up to launch the 2012 Ford Focus EV , and the automaker has selected 19 target markets for its first-ever all-electric passenger car. A press release can only reveal so much emotion, but we would like to believe the copywriters had a Howard Dean-like moment as they rattled off the markets that include 14 states and Washington, D.C. Ford is working with local government agencies and utilities in the selected markets to help prepare for the launch of the EVs.

2012 Ford Focus EV to use liquid-cooled lithium-polymer battery

Ford confirms that the Focus EV will employ a liquid-cooled battery pack with automatic thermal management, just like the Chevy . Ford opted for active thermal management solution in order to help maximize the Focus EV’s battery performance and lifespan. By protecting the battery from overheating, the system can help prevent the development of cracks in the electrodes.

Ford to expand electric and hybrid offerings to Europe from 2011

Nancy Gioia has announced that between 2011 and 2013, Ford of Europe will get five new hybrid and battery electric models added to its lineup. About six to nine months after each of the new models rolls out in North America, they will be introduced in Europe.
