Official: iQ will be Scion’s focus at SEMA

Cartel, Dynamic, 686, Michael Chang, Jon Sibal and Tatsu have all turned their attentions toward the automaker’s lineup, and the results are as varied as the shops that built them. The newest addition to the Scion stable, the tiny iQ , looks to have received most of the attention this year around, with a total of four iQ concepts headed to the sands of Las Vegas. One of the wildest has to be the iQ Pit Boss by Cartel.

Rumormill: BMW could launch 13 front-wheel-drive vehicles by 2016

Filed under: BMW , Mini , Rumormill Rumors about front-wheel-drive vehicles have been swirling around BMW for some time now, and word on the Bavarian street is that this drivetrain shift in BMW’s portfolio is set to launch sooner than we may think. Initially, we believed front-wheel drive would be limited to just a sub-compact here and a compact coupe there , but now comes word that the German automaker could produce up to 13 front-wheel-drive vehicles by 2016. Of course, not all of these vehicles will wear BMW badges – after all, the company’s Mini brand only uses front-wheel drive.

But M-B is working hard to make the next generation of both, based on common front-drive architecture, seriously competitive. But a shooting brake? The retro body style is making a comeback, as we saw with Mercedes’ own Shooting Break concept and the new Ferrari Four , and we could soon see it on a baby Benz.

Rumormill: BMW working on range of front-wheel-drive concepts

Visions of front-wheel drive 3 Series and 1 Series models were almost enough to induce frenzy (not that a huge number of owners would know the difference …), but if the latest word from BMW Blog is to be believed, the company’s front-wheel drive efforts will be contained to a handful of all-new models. The news comes courtesy of a BMW insider posting on German Car Forum.

2010 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport

2010 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Outlander Sport is the first Mitsubishi to use lightweight, dent-resistant front fenders made from recycled plastic. Further, with regenerative braking, class-leading 0.33 Cd aerodynamics, and electric power steering, the Sport achieves up to 31 mpg on the highway. Drivers will appreciate such premium features as hill-start assist, seven airbags, 710-watt audio, Bluetooth phone and audio capability, and all-wheel drive. 31 MPG on the highway is not an easy feat to achieve on any crossover vehicle.
