Hyundai adds power to 2013 Veloster and Genesis Coupe for US

Hyundai has announced major power output boosts for the Veloster and Genesis Coupe at the Detroit auto show today.

Detroit: 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe turns up the wick with big horsepower boosts

Filed under: Detroit Auto Show , Coupe , Performance , Hyundai Sure, the refreshed 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe now looks more aggressive, but the real story is under the hood, with new powertrains that pack more punch and a few more gears, as well. The V6 Genesis Coupe now features direct injection, while the turbocharged four has a new turbo and intercooler setup. Both models are available with eight-speed automatics and get slightly better fuel economy, as well. The 3.8-liter V6 in the Genesis Coupe now makes 348 horsepower and 296 pound-feet of torque, up from 306 and 266, respectively.

Well, most of it anyway. Although sworn to secrecy, we’ve seen the new car up close , so we know exactly where to look to catch all the new cosmetics in the teaser. But trust us when we say that if you’re thinking the Genesis Coupe is just getting new looks alone for the new model year, you’d be very, very wrong .

Video: 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe gets the real-life walkaround treatment

Filed under: Detroit Auto Show , Coupe , Videos , Hyundai In just a few weeks, we’ll be feasting our eyes on the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe under the bright lights of the Detroit Auto Show . And while the endless spy shots and leaked images have done a good job of showing us exactly what the new coupe looks like, this in-person video gives us a glimpse of what the new Hyundai sports cars looks like in the wild – inside and out. We’re slowly warming to the new Veloster -inspired front fascia, and the other visual changes for 2013 have been easier to appreciate. The revised taillamps look nice, and we dig the wheel design of the 3.8 R-Spec model shown in this video.
