But we don’t have to, because the car known as Godzilla is as devastating on the race track as it is on the street. Very different racing versions have been made to challenge the FIA GT1 World Championship and for Japan’s own Super GT series, the latter powered by a naturally aspirated V8 to satisfy regulations instead of the twin-turbo V6 in the production model.

Video: Porsche primes us for Le Mans return with look back

Filed under: Motorsports , Videos , Porsche The 24 Hours of Le Mans is still eight months away, but that hasn’t stopped Porsche from producing another video to get us excited about it. Or rather, Porsche is working to get us excited for the 2014 Le Mans race , when it will return to the 16.75-kilometer circuit with a new LMP1 car. Porsche hasn’t won Le Mans’ top category since 1998, when the 911 GT1 was the overall winner.

Report: Shelby Supercars Tuatara racks up $13M worth of sales at Dubai Motor Show

Official: 2012 Chevrolet Corvette Daytona Prototype unveiled

Filed under: Motorsports , Coupe , Performance , Chevrolet , Racing It’s not every day that we get to feast our eyes on a new Corvette , and even if this isn’t the much-anticipated C7 , well, at least this one is in the here and now. This 2012 Chevrolet Corvette Daytona Prototype will race in the Grand-Am Road Racing Series next season, making its competitive debut at the Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway on January 28. “The 2012 Corvette Daytona Prototype was developed by a multifaceted effort involving Chevrolet, Corvette designers, Pratt & Miller and Grand-Am. Chevrolet also worked closely with chassis builders Riley, Coyote and Dallara,” said Mark Kent, General Motors Racing Director, in a statement.
