Tuner John Hennessey of Hennessey Performance has stated in an interview with late-night TV talk show host Jay Leno that he plans to beat the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport for the title of fastest production vehicle of all time with his Venom GT supercar.

Official: Hennessey announces 2013 Venom GT Spyder

There’s gilding the lily, and then there is this: An open-air version of Hennessey’s 1,200-horsepower Venom GT supercar. The Venom GT Spyder turns up the wick on its hardtop sibling to the tune of an additional $150,000, with a base price starting at $1.1 million. That’s a pretty steep charge for a removable roof panel, although Hennessey Performance Engineering CEO Don Goldman says Venom GT Spyder buyers will also get “an even greater driving sensation.” While we have yet to see official specifications or an order sheet for the Spyder, we imagine seeing “Extra wind and sound from the twin-turbo V8″ listed under standard equipment. Hennessey Venom GT making official U.S. debut at Monterey

Auto Shows , Specialty , MISC Hennessey has announced that it will show off its Venom GT on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at the McCall’s Motorworks Revival during the Pebble Beach weekend, which will take place at the Monterey Jet Center. Of course, we’ve seen various images of the car along with a few videos thrown in for good measure, but the Texas-based company says this is the car’s first official unveiling in the U.S. after making an appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK
