Filed under: Sedan , Hyundai , First Drive , Luxury , South Korea Korean Luxury Gets A Little Sharper 2012 Hyundai Genesis 5.0 R-Spec – Click above for high-res image gallery Hyundai isn’t interested in knocking shields with the likes of the BMW M guard, the Audi S line or even the Mercedes-Benz AMG legion with its 2012 Genesis 5.0 R-Spec . Instead, the newest addition to the Genesis line is out to offer buyers an extra helping of power and slightly sharper dynamics without all the motorsports pretense of its haughty German rivals. With 23 straight months of sales increases and 29,122 units sold last year, there doesn’t seem to be much of an argument for varying the luxury sedan’s recipe.

Filed under: Car Buying , Coupe , Hyundai 2011 Hyundai Genesis Coupe – Click above for high-res image gallery Hyundai has provided pricing on its 2011 Genesis Coupe-R Spec , and has giveth and taketh away when it comes to features and price. Starting at $26,750 (plus $800 freight), the 3.8-liter V6 with a manual transmission is the same price as the 2.0-liter four-cylinder in Premium trim, making it the least expensive V6 in the range. At $4,000 dollars less than the 3.8 Track with a manual, and 68 pounds lighter, you still get the track suspension, Brembos, Torsen LSD and 19-inchers, and forsake the auto headlights, cruise control, sunroof, rear spoiler, metalgrain accents outside and chrome bits inside.

Hyundai 5.0 to take on Mustang with 429 horsepower?

Filed under: Coupe , Sedan , Performance , Hyundai , Rumormill , Luxury Hyundai Genesis Coupe – Click above for high-res image gallery “Anything you can do, I can do better” might be playing on the loudspeakers in Korea right now, as Hyundai is apparently set to introduce a bored out version of the formerly 4.6-liter Tau V8 for action in the Genesis Sedan and Equus . More interestingly, this new 5.0 may do duty in the Genesis Coupe as well. This new 5.0-liter V8 was mentioned during a media event at Hyundai R&D and if the claimed numbers are legit, this Mustang-challenger will produce a few more ponies than the Blue Oval bruiser.
