The Land Down Under has its own unique touring car championship in the form of its popular V8 Supercars series, but the only contestants these days are Ford (with its FPV Falcon) and GM subsidiary Holden (with its HSV Commodore).

Report: Turkish private equity firm jumps into Saab buying fray

Filed under: China , Saab , Middle East The next chapter in the Saab opera has a new protagonist called Brightwell Holdings, a Turkish private equity firm. Brightwell is is perhaps the unknown Turkish entity mentioned last year as having an interest in bankrupt Saab, along with India’s Mahindra & Mahindra . A board member at Brightwell said the company will spend two weeks evaluating Saab’s assets and then will make a bid, “there’s no question.” Turkey doesn’t have a national car company, but it does have plenty of automotive manufacturing expertise since Ford , Fiat and Renault have factories there. The proceeding pits one Eric Lux (CEO of Genii Capital that owns part of Lotus Renault GP) against Adrian Sutil (a veteran grand prix driver who most recently drove for Force India ) over an alleged fight in a Shanghai night club. Bonhams Las Vegas Motorcycle Sale sees big numbers for vintage bikes

While seriously expensive bikes like the 1955 Vincent Black Prince pictured above and a 1915 Harley-Davidson 11-F Twin failed to bring home enough cash to find new owners, the 1953 Vincent Black Shadow to the right brought home well north of its early bid estimates.
