OnStar bringing another 4G LTE concept to CES

Filed under: Hybrid , Sedan , CES , Technology , Cadillac , Chevrolet , GM , Electric , Infotainment General Motors is slowly pushing OnStar into the infotainment realm as it recognizes its telematics system needs to provide more than emergency services and navigation functionality to entice consumers. To that end, at CES this January OnStar is rolling out another connectivity concept employing 4G LTE broadband to bring even more media into the car. Last year, GM outfitted a Buick LaCrosse with Verizon’s high-speed data service, but the 2012 concept is based around the more tech-centric Chevrolet Volt .

The luxury LaCrosse lounges on the show floor with a set of aggressive 20-inch alloy wheels, which are the only exterior cues available to distinguish this vehicle from its more plebeian litter mates. Inside is a whole different story, however.

But today, this Korean import seems more like it comes from the Island of Misfit Toys. Azera has quietly persisted while Hyundai has launched several well-received models, from the Genesis to the 2011 Sonata to the brand-new Veloster . Now comes the Azera’s 15 minutes of fame, in the form of a complete overhaul for 2012 designed to make the Azera more of a premium offering
