Filed under: New York Auto Show , Convertible , Chrysler 2011 Chrysler 200 – Click above for high-res image gallery The Chrysler Sebring Convertible’s days may be numbered, but it won’t be long before we get a glimpse at its successor. According to Olivier Francois, president and chief executive officer of the Chrysler brand, the company will show off the droptop version of the 200 at the 2011 New York Auto Show . Details are minimal so far, but we fully expect to see the car boast either the 2.4-liter four-cylinder or an optional 3.6-liter V6 (or both). In its most powerful configuration, the 200 Convertible could boast as much as 283 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, and given the timing, the car is likely to be a 2012 model

Lancia hits the matte with Hard Black edition Delta. We ponder a Chrysler version.

Filed under: Geneva Motor Show , Europe , Hatchback , Lancia Lancia Delta Hard Black – Click above for high-res image gallery Think of past models like the Integrale and the world-conquering Stratos and you’d be hard-pressed to imagine a Lancia going the subtle route, but the Italian automaker is releasing a subtle special edition of its Delta hatchback called the Hard Black. Decked out in matte black paint, the special Delta doesn’t lack for chrome, but the 18″ wheels can be had in optional black paint as well, while inside black leather and Alcantara coat the cabin. Mated to either a 200-horsepower, 1.8-liter direct-injection turbo four or a 190hp 1.8-liter turbo diesel, the Hard Black edition comes packed with adaptive suspension, dual-zone climate control and the Blue&Me connectivity system developed with Microsoft. Having been announced in Geneva, the Delta Hard Black is now going on sale in Europe for 31,300 euros (~$40k), leaving us to wonder what a Chrysler might look like with the anti-shine treatment

How much is that stretched Lancia Delta HF Integrale in the window? $136k, that’s how much

Filed under: Europe , Lancia 1991 Lancia Delta HF Integrale stretched limousine – Click above for image gallery With the popularity of the Subaru WRX and Mitsubishi Evo , it’d be easy to dismiss the likes of the Lancia Delta HF Integrale as a relic of the past. But make no mistake about it: The roadgoing version of this Italian rally machine is as exotic and desirable as any supercar to come from the same country. All the more reason, then, to be appalled at this unfortunate conversion job. It appears that some garage in Italy has taken an Integrale (possibly two, according to reports), chopped it up and stretched it into a limousine.

According to a report from Autocar , there’s a good chance that the vehicle (a reskinned Delta) is more than just an exercise in filling up space in Cobo Hall. Fiat’s boss Sergio Marchionne is saying that Chrysler could be fully merged with Fiat by the end of the year.

From the mid-’70s to the early-’90s, Lancia racked up an impressive tally of international race wins and championships with its doorstop-like Stratos and Montecarlo successor. With the recent Chrysler/Fiat nuptials, the Lancia brand is having a bit of a renaissance, but only as a source of future badge-engineered Chryslers . That’s why it’s so refreshing to come across something like the car we just found on Craigslist: A genuine Lancia LC2 Group C racecar

Detroit 2010: Wrap up

Filed under: Detroit Auto Show We’ve all arrived safely home after our trip to the D for the 2010 Detroit Auto Show . After some much needed sleep, we’ve assembled this wrap up of our live coverage that you can peruse at a glance. Turns out that, like last year, this year’s Detroit show was much smaller in size compared to prior years with fewer vehicles and concepts introduced. Alas, the weakened state of our economy and the industry’s troubles have caught up with the auto show circuit again.
