Video: Translogic takes DeLorean DMC-EV for a spin

Filed under: Classics , Technology , Electric This electric DeLorean is just a prototype, but our sister publication, Translogic got to take it for a spin and found that a 260-horsepower electric motor finally makes the DMC-12 the sports car everyone has always wanted it to be. While we get to see plenty of footage of the car lapping Houston Motorsports Park , this episode also includes an interview with DeLorean Motor Company CEO Stephen Wynne. While we don’t want to give too much away, Wynne discusses future plans for the Texas-based DeLorean restorer and remanufacturer, which include bringing the electric DeLorean to market . Wynne tells Translogic that the car is expected to sell for between $95,000-$100,000

Report: GM CEO Akerson asked to testify at Volt hearing

Filed under: Hybrid , Sedan , Government/Legal , Safety , Chevrolet It’s a safe wager that no one expected the report of the Chevrolet Volt fire after a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration crash test to turn into a Congressional dressing-down. The short story: NHTSA crash-tested a Volt in May , that car caught fire in June while in storage, and NHTSA alerted the public about the fire in November . Certain politicians have wondered if politics played a part in waiting until November to report the fire, and now a House panel is holding a hearing called “Volt Vehicle Fire: What did NHTSA know and when did they know it?” to find out. According to The Detroit News , the proceedings have now drawn General Motors CEO Dan Akerson into its maw, Akerson agreeing to testify before the panel next week

Official: Nissan March Nismo concept debuts at Tokyo Auto Salon [w/video]

Make that Far East, as the tuners have rolled in for the Tokyo Auto Salon , where Nissan performance tuning arm Nismo has taken on its third compact and given it an attitude adjustment. Following the recent debuts of the Leaf Nismo and Juke Nismo comes this March Nismo, based on the small hatchback also known as the Micra or (in Taiwan) as the Verita.
