Filed under: Budget , Sedan , Chevrolet , Design/Style If you think the Chevrolet Sonic sedan looks a bit abbreviated now, you should have seen it before General Motors stretched the vehicle. Take a good look at the spec sheets for the Sonic hatch and Sonic sedan, and you’ll likely notice the four-door is over a foot longer than its twin. According to Automotive News, GM felt that early design attempts at the sedan bodystyle were too stubby looking. While the four-door was always intended to be somewhat longer than the hatch, designers rolled in additional space in the vehicle’s rump to help situate the vehicle’s proportions

VW to finalise Porsche takover for EUR 3.9billion

Unidentified managers within the VW hierarchy have confirmed that they will set up a a holding company to take control temporarily. It is believed by completing the transaction before 2014 will save the company EUR 1 billion in taxes.

Report: One-off Mercedes 550K barn find discovered in South Central, LA salvage yard

Filed under: Classics , Coupe , Etc. , Mercedes-Benz , Specialty Being agriculturally inclined to build barns in the country, we don’t expect barn finds to turn up in the middle of a high-turnover metropolis. Yet that’s been happening more regularly of late, and writer Michael Mraz has found another example in South Central, Los Angeles: a one-of-one Mercedes-Benz 1935 Caracciola 500K built especially for Silver Arrows race driver Rudolph Caraccioloa. It is pictured above in better days, after having been restored and displayed on the lawn at the Pebble Beach concours in the late 1970s

Chevrolet didn’t just bring the car to display, though, and announced that it would be auctioning the very first production example for charity. There was plenty of excitement as the Corvette was brought up on the auction block, and bidding quickly skyrocketed past the six-figure mark.
