BMW 1M Coupe stops by Paris, doesn’t even stay for the show

But the real surprise, as it turns out, may have been in the French capital during the show, it wasn’t even put on display. Instead, the Bavarian automaker took its currently-in-progress 1M Coupe out onto the city’s famous tree-lined boulevards, covered up and disguised, but did a suitably Parisian burlesque striptease to give us a glimpse at what to expect. Aside from the silhouette, all we can see are the front fender, headlamp (which is now taped-up in Zorro-esque fashion for some reason) and part of the air dam – all of which we saw before in the last teaser video – along with a newly-revealed section of the rear bumper and quad-pipe exhaust, plus the wheels protruding from the flared arches

Paris 2010: Ford pondering bringing five-door C-Max to U.S. [w/poll]

Filed under: Europe , Paris Motor Show , Hatchback , Ford 2011 Ford C-Max – Click above for high-res image gallery Following the second press day at the Paris Motor Show at a drive event in Southern France, Ford’s global vice president of marketing, Jim Farley, let slip to Autoblog that Dearborn decisionmakers are mulling over whether to import the C-Max to the U.S. As you’ll recall, Ford has already committed to bringing over the C-Max’s larger line mate, the seven-seat Grand C-Max , a vehicle that Farley tells us won’t hit American soil until early in calendar 2012 (likely as a 2013 model). Unlike its bigger brother, the C-Max has conventional front-hinged rear doors (the Grand has a pair of sliders) along with a more aggressive roofline and rear graphic to complement its shorter wheelbase. Think of it as more of a pent-roof Focus wagon and less of a smallish minivan in the mold of the Mazda5 and you’ve got it

Paris 2010: 2011 Mercedes-Benz CL63 AMG mixes Wall Street and Miami Vice

Filed under: Coupe , Performance , Paris Motor Show , Mercedes-Benz , Luxury 2011 Mercedes-Benz CL63 AMG – Click above for high-res image gallery Making the swap from a naturally aspirated 6.3- 6.2-liter V8 to a direct injection, twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 hasn’t at all reduced the Mercedes CL63 AMG ‘s brawny beauty. The standard version gets 544 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. Opt for the AMG Performance Package and you boost that to 571 hp and 664 lb-ft. All that power doesn’t come with a bigger fuel price, either: at 22 combined miles per gallon with the help of stop/start and the AMG Speedshift MCT seven-speed sport transmission, the new car posts a 25 percent increase in fuel economy over the 6.2-liter beast

No Pun: Smart builds cardboard ForTwo

Filed under: Concept Cars , Convertible , Budget , Europe , Paris Motor Show , Smart , Design/Style Cardboard Smart ForTwo – Click above for high-res image gallery Sometimes, the jokes write themselves. Artist Sarah Illenberger has partnered with Smart and the packing gurus at CD Cartondruck AG to build the world’s first ForTwo hemmed in high-quality reusable cardboard. Both the exterior and the interior of the car will be decorated with heaps of the recyclable material, and oddly enough, Smart says that it’s pulling the stunt to disprove the notion that its products aren’t disposable. We’re having a hard time wrapping our heads around that one.
