Renault integrating custom tablet into 2012 Zoe and Clio

Filed under: Technology , Renault , Infotainment We’ve seen plenty of tablets embedded into concepts and project cars, but Renault looks to be the first major automaker to bring a fully functional and embedded tablet into a production vehicle. And it’s doing it in two new cars due to arrive next year. At the LeWeb consumer electronics show in France, Renault unveiled R-Link, a voice-activated telematics platform that combines entertainment, navigation and social functions into a single, integrated seven-inch touchscreen display. The tablet – which we assume is removable, so this isn’t just a glorified touchscreen – can be controlled through either voice commands, the screen or the steering wheel, and Renault claims that 50 apps will be available when it launches on both the new Clio and Zoe models next year

Official: Renault stripes up the base Clio with Gordini edition

Filed under: Budget , Europe , Hatchback , Renault Renault’s handling of its Gordini revival has been disappointing. After starting off with Gordini appearance packages on the Renaultsport Clio and Twingo performance cars, Renault has elected to just dilute the Gordini moniker by applying it to the base Twingo and Wind Roadster , budget vehicles with no more sporting pretension than the stripes slapped on ‘em. Now the base Clio is getting an all-show, no-go Gordini package as well.

Report: Renault and Williams to team up again for new 240hp Clio hot hatch?

Filed under: Performance , Europe , Hatchback , Renault Back in the early ’90s, Renault and Williams were dominating Formula One , and their success spilled over into one of the most celebrated hot hatches of all time. And now that the two are getting back together for the 2012 season, rumors are afoot that they’ll collaborate on a revival that could prove one very tasty beast indeed. Keen to avoid simply cashing in on – or cheapening – the name, Renault isn’t likely to slap on a new coat of paint and some special badges (much as it did with the Gordini brand) and call it a day.
