Official: 2012 Fiat 500 Abarth priced from $22,000*

Filed under: Car Buying , Performance , Hatchback , Fiat Fiat has announced that the 2012 500 Abarth will be priced from $22,000, *not including destination charges. That’s a healthy jump from the tiny Italian’s $15,500 base MSRP and higher still than the open-air 500C that starts at $19,500. For all that extra lira, buyers get Fiat’s turbocharged 1.4-liter MultiAir engine producing 160 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque.

As always, Richard Petty himself is on hand to oversee the festivities. While you’d think Allmendinger’s ridiculous V8-powered, rear-wheel drive NASCAR beast would be the de facto champion of lighting ‘em up, Block’s wee rally-sped Fiesta held its own this time *ahem* around.

Of those souls, one will be awarded a special Ford Fiesta , but should AJ Allmendinger happen to walk away with the checkers, everyone in the grand-prize lot will receive a new Fiesta to call their very own.
