Turns out they also like to let their slot cars showcase hidden Type A personalities. At a place called Autorataharrastajat ry, some very serious racers run slot cars at barely watchable speeds on an eight-lane track.

There are plenty of other classes though, and some of the drivers helming these vehicles are clearly insane. Take Doug Siddens, for example. Siddens is running a customized Polaris RZR, which has been tuned by MCX-USA and now produces around 300 horsepower.

The heavily modified H1 rides on tracks at all four corners – a necessary modification, since this Hummer is designed for an expedition to the South Pole. The trip is going to be documented by Chris Paine, who’s best known for the film Who Killed the Electric Car?

Corvair Autocross: Awesomely thrilling at any speed

The first time you decide to autocross a forward-control Corvair , this lifted-wheel, heavy-leaning posture must be positively terrifying. When all four wheels find pavement again, and the view out the windshield levels off, the driver’s likely giggling like a lunatic. Something that amusing obviously calls for another run through the cones.
