Filed under: Hirings/Firings/Layoffs , Ford , Volkswagen , Fiat Ex- Volkswagen and Ford executive Laura Soave has gone from creating the events that help sell cars to being the one in charge of selling them. Yes, Fiat has named Soave, the woman who helped put together the 50th Anniversary Barbie New Beetle in charge of reintroducing the Fiat brand to the United States after retreating from North America’s shores more than 25 years ago. Of course, Soave, 37, has also done more substantive things, including being VW’s head of advertising and communications for the company’s large(ish) passenger cars and SUVs. At Ford, Soave held down various positions, including “Brand DNA Manager.” Soaves’ official title as Head of the Fiat Brand for North America not only installs her at the top of the pyramid, it puts her name on the profit-and-loss bottom line and has her answering directly to Sergio Marchionne

2009 Volkswagen Jetta TDI – Four Seasons Wrap-Up VW’s diesel is dignified but a little dull. When our 2009 Volkswagen Jetta TDI arrived at the office back in September 2008, the timing couldn’t have been better. Fresh off a two-year sabbatical during which it received a cleaner, more powerful, and more efficient engine, the diesel Jetta was ripe for time in the spotlight with a market that demanded practical, economical automobiles. Four-dollar-a-gallon gasoline, increasing fuel-economy standards, and a gasping economy were practically an advertising campaign for a car that returned 41 mpg on the highway and had a base price of less than $23,000.inline_mediumwraptextright26769299/green/reviews/1003_2009_volkswagen_jetta_tdi_wrapup1003_01_z+2009_volkswagen_jetta_tDI+front_three_quarter_view.jpgTrue Photo Gallery: 2009 Volkswagen Jetta TDI – Four Seasons Wrap-Up – Automobile Magazine Read More | Digg It | Add to del.icio.us
