It’s a marketing motto nearly as old as racing itself, but while today’s NASCAR stock cars may have about as much in common with the cars they represent as a Halloween superhero costume from Walmart will actually give your kid superpowers, NASCAR remains the biggest spectator sport in America. So you can imagine that participating automakers would think themselves foolish to pass up the opportunity to make the connection in fans’ eyes to cars they can actually buy at their local dealership.

Report: Honda wins Acura RL collision warning system class action lawsuit appeal

Filed under: Sedan , Etc. , Government/Legal , Safety , Acura , Luxury Honda can thank Wal-Mart for the automaker’s recent victory in a class-action lawsuit over Acura RL models equipped with the company’s Collision Mitigation Braking System. The system was designed to warn drivers of a potential crash, tighten the vehicle’s seat belts and automatically apply the brakes. However, lawyers for approximately 2,000 plaintiffs sued the Japanese automaker, arguing that the system may warn the driver too slowly, and it may not work at all – the lawsuit also complained the system may shut off altogether in foul weather

Record number of booster seats earn highest rating from IIHS

Filed under: Safety Ah, booster seats, the last removable throne before children earn the privilege of sitting their butts directly on a car’s seat, which they’ll then refuse to do until the day they turn 16 and start driving themselves. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety began testing booster seats back in 2008, and this year’s lot has produced a record number of BEST BETS designations, the highest rating the IIHS bestows upon a booster seat. A booster seat is used when a child has outgrown a typical car seat, usually between the ages of four and eight, until reaching a height of 4 foot, 9 inches tall.

Filed under: Etc. , Safety , Videos John Deere Walmart rampage – Click above to view video after the jump A couple in Richmond Hill, Georgia Ontario were returning from the car wash when they noticed a strange late-night gathering at the local Walmart. Curious, they stopped to see what the fuss was about, and were confronted with the spectacle of a driver-less John Deere Tractor careening around the parking lot. The tractor in question wasn’t just your regular, run-of-the-mill lawn tractor, either.
